Angelina Jolie

Angelina Jolie, original name Angelina Jolie Voight, (born June 4, 1975, Los Angeles, California, U.S.), American actress and director known for her sexy appeal and edginess and also for her charitable work. Her part in Girl, Interrupted (1999) was the part she won in the Academy Award. Jolie, the daughter of actor Jon Voight, spent most of her growing up in New York. She moved to Los Angeles when she was 11. After being at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute for two years later, she was began her studies at Beverly Hills High School. Then she went on to study acting at New York University. In addition to appearing in theater productions, she also was a model and featured in music videos.Jolie's first big film part was in Hackers (1995) in the filming of which she got married to her first husband, British actor Jonny Lee Miller (married 1996; divorced 1999). It wasn't well-loved as were a number of other movies. Jolie was the segregationist wife of Alabama's governor, garnering lots of attention in 1997. The actress later won a Golden Globe Award. Jolie played an actress who is struggling with drug addiction in the HBO movie Gia in 1999. This performance earned her numerous honours including the Golden Globe Award and Screen Actors Guild Award. She co-starred with John Cusack in Pushing Tin in 1999. The following year, she tied the knot with Thornton (divorced in 2003). Jolie was the carjacker's wife (Nicolas Cage) in Gone in Sixty Seconds 2000. Then, she took on an accent that resembled a British accent and began learning street fighting and kickboxing to perform the roles in Lara Croft Tomb Raider 2001 and Lara Croft Tomb Raider The Cradle of Life 2003. The actress played Alexander's mother in Oliver Stone's Alexander (2004) as well as played alongside Jude Law and Gwyneth Paltrow in Sky Captain and The World of Tomorrow (a sci-fi thriller set in 1930s New York City). Both films disappointed in the box office, however Jolie's Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2005) was a success. Jolie played a character acting as a normal homewife during the making of the movie. Brad Pitt became her partner.
